Early Victorian furniture looked back to the ancient world for inspiration. The result was the Classic Revival or Empire Style. On this chair notice the acanthus leaf carving at the crest and aprons. The S-curved arms add another classic touch. The untufted back provides a perfect display for the many luxurious tapestries and brocades that are available for this piece. In keeping with the venerable tradition of Victorian furniture manufacture, the frame is built of solid beechwood and features lavish carving throughout. The upholstery is hand-sewn and completed with a heavy cord trim. Thick, high density foam on the backs and the deep loose cushions on the seats provide optimum support and comfort. It can be covered in your choice of 18 premium Italian fabrics. Shown in the mahogany finish, the chair also comes in dark fruitwood, lacatta, and antique gold finishes.
